Cover (opening faults) from Revd Nesbitt B. Lodge R.N. serving on H.M.S. Eclipse to his wife in Sidmouth, sent by Naval bag to London franked by 1d lilac strip of three each tied by “7” numeral cancel in the London Foreign Branch, backstamped at Sidmouth (Oct 9). The log of H.M.S. Eclipse shows the ship at Aden from late August until 28th October. Also an 1882 cover (slightly shortened at left) from Sidmouth to Lodge on H.M.S. Eclipse at Aden, franked 5d indigo.
