Anglo Boer War – Green Point POW Camp Bank Notes – Cape Town horse racing track
The Green Point Boer POW Camp was set up on the Cape Town horse racing track in early 1900 and consisted of lines of tented accommodation. Green Point Track notes were issued to permit Boer prisoners to buy supplies in the camp canteen. Four different notes were issued in values of 1/-, 2/- and 5/-, there being two different colours for the five shilling value. A papermakers watermark spans a number of notes and as a result many notes can give the impression of being on unwatermarked paper. Colloquially known as “Good Fors” they are of interest to both philatelists and collectors of Bank Notes.
