23 Stamps from 1c to 20 francs SG137/78 illustrating Pointe de Paletuviers and ship (9), Chief’s Hut and Palm Trees (6) and La Perouse, L’Astrolabe ship and De Bougainville (8), New Caledonia was discovered by Captain James Cook and named New Caledonia by him. The stamps were printed by the French Government printing works in Paris, 23 stamps in strips of three as submitted to the U.P.U. in Berne, Switzerland. The stamps cancelled by the official ‘Postes et Telegraphes / Madagascar Collection de Berne’ by the post office in Madagascar unique item. Released from the archives of the Madagascar post office.
