Entire letter from Montreal to London backstamped by the uncommon double ring “QUEBEC”, with triangle of lines at base and Bishop Mark struck within. Also with London Bishop Mark of “1/NO”. This letter was landed at Cork in Ireland and bears, on the obverse, a handstamped “SHIP LRE” with “CORK” in manuscript above. Although similar to Robertson S34 of London, this “SHIP-LRE” handstamp is clearly seriffed (which Robertson S34 of London is not), and appears to go with the manuscript “Cork”. Whether this handstamp was applied at Quebec, Cork or London, this remains an Exhibition quality and probably unique item.
