New South Wales / G.B. – London 1893

Cover franked 1d lilac posted within London but missent to New South Wales, the reverse endorsed “This letter was received by the undersigned in a packet from the Geologists Association, London, and I now return it to the Postmaster at Broken Hill, Uriah Dudley, F.G.S.”, and handstamped “BROKEN HILL/NEW SOUTH WALES/AUSTRALIA”. The cover was backstamped at Broken Hill on June 16th, then returned to London where the stamp was cancelled on August 1st. The cover is mounted on an album page which has been illustrated by the eventual recipient. An interesting item.
