WRECK MAIL / NEW SOUTH WALES 1862
Entire letter from Sydney to Aberdeen, carried on the P & O “Colombo” which ran aground on the Minicoy Islands and sank on November 19th, the wreck subsequently salvaged by divers. Waterstained and the stamp washed off, with superb boxed “Saved from the wreck of/the Colombo” and a red “Paid London” arrival c.d.s. (2 Jan. 1863).
